Real Madrid and Chelsea have already done business with each other following Marc Cucurella’s move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Reports suggest that they could now do more, with Chelsea rumoured to be interested in Alvaro Carreras.

Carreras would be a direct replacement for Cucurella, and it looks like the Blues have a genuine chance to sign the 23-year-old this summer.

Why shouldn’t Alvaro Carreras replace Marc Cucurella? He looks ideal!

Alvaro Carreras isn’t untouchable at Real Madrid

Cucurella’s arrival at the Bernabeu looks as though it could have a knock-on effect.

According to AS, Carreras is not untouchable, meaning that Real Madrid could be willing to sell the Spaniard to Chelsea.

Following their purchase of Cucurella, Los Blancos now have four left-backs in total. Cucurella, Carreras, Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy all prefer to play in that position.

Those are far too many options, so Carreras may very well be available now that Jose Mourinho has got his hands on Cucurella.

Cucurella cost Real Madrid just over £50m and is one of the best left-backs in the world, so there is no doubt that he is going to be a starter next season. If Carreras does not want to be on the bench, he will probably have to leave the Spanish capital in this transfer window.

Chelsea’s stance on signing Alvaro Carreras

Whether Chelsea make a bid for Carreras or not remains to be seen. Currently, the club are dismissing reports claiming that they are interested in signing the Spain international.

According to football.london journalist Bobby Vincent, Chelsea sources are playing down links with Carreras.

However, recently, there has been a lot of that from Chelsea sources, who may just be trying to keep their cards close to their chest.

Whatever the case, depending on their plans for Valentin Barco, Chelsea may need to sign another left-back. Barco and Jorrel Hato could be sufficient, but there is a possibility of the Argentine playing in midfield or being loaned out.
