Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea are now willing to pay up to £40m to sign Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus.
He told GiveMeSport it remains to be seen whether the Dutch side will accept an offer for that magnitude if it does come in.
It has emerged that Kudus is one of the players the club are considering bringing in to add a little more depth to their attacking options for next season.

The Ghana international has proven himself as an extremely versatile member of the attack for club and country, with his ability to play anywhere undoubtedly a big bonus for the Blues.
They are facing competition for his signature from the likes of Arsenal. However, it is believed that they are willing to offer more money in order to get the deal over the line.
Now, Jacobs has claimed that the Blues are willing to actually reach a figure of £40m to get the job done.
Chelsea prepared to pay £40m for Kudus
He said: “He’s the type of player that fits the Chelsea profile. He’s 22 years old, he’s an attacking midfielder and he wants to leave Ajax.
“I think that the fee is going to be really interesting. Chelsea, I think will be looking for around £40 million, but we have to wait and see whether that’s enough.”

Another player they are considering to play in attack is Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. It has been widely claimed that he has a very achievable release clause.
The relationship the Blues have with the player’s family could be key, as they look to beat off interest from the likes of Manchester City.
However, they are waiting to see how bad his recent injury is going to affect his start to the season.
