Reece James has taken to social media to give his reaction to the news that academy graduate Callum Hudson-Odoi had left Chelsea.

He commented on the former player’s Instagram a single sad emoji as one the first team’s longest serving players was moved on to Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

Yesterday finally saw it announced that Hudson-Odoi had left the club at last, after a full summer of reports that he would be on the move.

They attempted one final loan to the Bundesliga last season in an attempt for him to reclaim the form that saw him break into the side in the first place.

However, things did not work out under Xabi Alonso, and he actually left Bayer Leverkusen before his loan officially came to an end.

James gutted at Hudson-Odoi sale

A route back into the first team under Mauricio Pochettino looked extremely difficult to see. He was not included in the travelling squad to the pre-season tour of the United States.

A number of Premier League clubs were linked with a move for the player, however it was Forest who completed a deal for an extremely cheap fee.

James, who will have known Hudson-Odoi for plenty of years as they came up through the academy, made it clear on his former teammate’s Instagram story that he was gutted he had actually departed.

It may not take long for the attacker to return to Stamford Bridge though, with Chelsea set to face Forest in the league today.

Chelsea will be looking to make it consecutive wins at home in the Premier League, and the match could well be the platform for Cole Palmer to make his debut for his new club.
