Mason Mount could end up staying at Chelsea if Mauricio Pochettino is appointed as the club’s new manager, according to reports.

The future of Mason Mount, 24, has been regularly discussed in the media due to the fact his contract expires in 2024.

He’s a huge success story from the academy and one of the biggest stars at Stamford Bridge, but he’s been underwhelming in the 2022/23 season.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea’s co-owner Todd Boehly spoke directly with Mount over the weekend to tell him how crucial he is to the squad at Stamford Bridge.

This comes after journalist Simon Phillips told GiveMeSport earlier this month that Chelsea are growing more optimistic that Mount will sign a contract extension as negotiations continue over a new deal.

90min reports today that Chelsea are willing to offer Mount a new short-term contract extension to solve his immediate future.

The report says that Pochettino’s imminent arrival at the club shows ambition and could help convince the 24-year-old stay.

It is understood that Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are the clubs interested in signing the Blues attacking midfielder.

We hope that Mount does extend his stay at Chelsea, whether that’s with Pochettino as his manager or not.

He’s been the club’s player of the year in the two previous seasons, so it’s certainly not the time to write him off after one average campaign.

Unfortunately, Lampard confirmed earlier today that Mount could be out for the rest of the season through injury (club’s official website).

We doubt his name will be kept out of the spotlight, though.
