Reports have claimed that defender Malang Sarr is unlikely to be involved for Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino next season.

According to The Athletic, the Blues are on the hunt for another club to take the Frenchman off their hands this summer.

Last season, Sarr was offered the opportunity to impress on loan at Monaco, trying to show that he still had a future at Stamford Bridge.

However, things did not go so well, and he did not take the opportunity with both hands.

Monaco were hardly thrilled with his displays during his loan spell, and did not even try to turn the loan deal into something permanent.

He has never been particularly consistent at Stamford Bridge either. However, there have been some performances that suggested he was worth holding on to.

Sarr unlikely to stay

Former manager Thomas Tuchel once described him as ‘reliable’, as he stacked up a fair amount of appearances in the 2021/22 campaign.

Now though, the claims suggest that Sarr will actually be on the move this summer, with there being no future for him in West London.

The centre-back role is one that actually looks pretty well stacked going into next season, with them keen to have a good core going into next season.

As well as the experienced Thiago Silva still being available for another season, there are a number of promising younger options available.

Wesley Fofana will be looking to enjoy an injury-free campaign after the stop-start one which came last season, and Benoit Badiashile will be hoping for more appearances.

Meanwhile, the club are insistent that they will be keeping hold of Levi Colwill this summer, who has the potential to already be one of the best in the league next season.
