Report: £67m attacker would rather join Manchester United than Chelsea this summer

Ajax attacker Antony would reportedly prefer to join Manchester United than Chelsea this summer.

According to 90min, Premier League side Man United are continuing with their attempt to sign Ajax’s exciting 22-year-old winger in this transfer window.

It is understood that the Brazilian is going to cost around £67.3million to prize away from Amsterdam. As it stands, Man United are willing to pay a transfer fee of around £58.9million.

The report mentions Chelsea’s interest in Antony during this summer, but the player himself would prefer a switch to Old Trafford than a move to Stamford Bridge.

Antony would prefer Manchester United than Chelsea

It does look like Erik ten Hag’s Man United are in pole position to sign Antony, albeit they’ve still got to come to an agreement over the cost.

He’s a talented left-footed winger that finished last season with 12 goals and 10 assists in only 32 appearances across all competitions. In particular, he had six goal contributions in seven Champions League games to highlight his offensive threat.

Chelsea were reportedly named as suitors for Ajax’s star player last month. It looks like rivals Man United have jumped ahead of them in the transfer race, though.

Blues frontline

Raheem Sterling’s arrival from Manchester City should turn out to be a big improvement to the Chelsea attack, so fans can’t wait to see him get started in the new season.

However, there’s still a need for more goals in the team at the top end of the pitch.

They’re yet to sign a new No.9, something that seems even more important now Romelu Lukaku has gone on loan to rejoin Inter Milan.

If the Blues can’t sign a prolific striker in this market, adding some more goals to the XI on the wings is a decent alternative.
