Chelsea reportedly might be beaten to the signing of Denzel Dumfries by Arsenal.
According to Calciomercato, the Gunners are just £5m away from Inter Milan’s transfer valuation of the defender.
Dumfries is valued at no less than £35m, whilst Mikel Arteta’s employers are currently willing to spend up to £30m.
If Arsenal can muster the extra cash, they will be acquiring a very decent player for a very decent price.
Deadly Dumfries
Dumfries has been a steady addition to the Serie A side since switching from PSV Eindhoven in 2021.

He played 45 times last season as Inter narrowly failed to defend their Italian crown.
The 26-year-old has already notched up 20 appearances so far this term, starting all but two league games.
His effort and energy will be directed elsewhere in the next few weeks and possibly beyond.
Louis van Gaal included Dumfries in the Dutch World Cup squad, having missed out on the previous addition.
Chelsea to challenge Arsenal for Dumfries
Qatar will be the stage for players to showcase their talents and possibly force a move in January.
Although there is no indication Dumfries wants to leave the San Siro, there is serious attention trying to drag him away.

Along with Arsenal, Chelsea are said to be one of the Premier League sides chasing the wing-back’s signature.
Mateo Kovacic has been mentioned as part of a possible swap deal.
As much as the Blues need cover at wing-back following the injuries to Ben Chilwell and Reece James, they are also relatively light in central midfield.
Kovacic remains one of Graham Potter’s strongest and most important performers, even if he’s been slightly off the boil recently.

But what is more crucial to the Blues right now: adding depth to the wings or midfield?
At this very moment, fans would certainly say the former.
Especially if it meant thwarting Arsenal in their transfer pursuit.
