Chelsea has some clear issues in defence this season. They have conceded 25 goals in 17 games and have been rumoured to be interested in several centre-backs in the January transfer window.
Some of these have been household European names, but Leeds defender Ben White, who is currently on loan from Brighton, is the latest to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea are considering a £25 million move for the 22-year-old when the window opens next month.

White has started in all of Leeds Championship games this season, impressing throughout. He has been a key part of a side who have kept 12 clean sheets, five more than any other second division outfit.
It is fair to suggest that Chelsea need some reinforcements at the back, and the Leeds man could provide that if a move were to progress. Although the step up from the Championship is not always an easy one, Fikayo Tomori proved it can be done.
After spending last season with Derby County, Tomori came straight into the Chelsea side and impressed almost instantly. He has since earned himself a five-year contract with the Blues.

White has not been involved in the England set-up at youth level, but if he continues the way he is, it will only be a matter of time. The young defender won the EFL Championship PFA Player of the Month in August, and it is reported that Brighton could be tempted by a bid of £25 million.
He will only improve in years to come and would fit in perfectly with Lampard’s young Chelsea side. Although the price tag is high for a player unproven at Premier League level, it could prove to be a gamble worth taking for the Blues.
