Chelsea are reportedly keeping a close eye on Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos as they look to reunite him with Thomas Tuchel.

According to the Mirror, Tuchel appreciates Marquinhos and would support a move for him this summer.

The Brazil international has been with PSG since 2013, amassing more than 300 appearances along the way and collecting an incredible 25 trophies.

He became club captain after Thiago Silva set sail for Stamford Bridge last year.

In an interview with Le Parisien, Marquinhos gave a glowing review of the Chelsea centre-back not long after his departure from Paris.

“(Thiago Silva) was first an idol. Today he is an idol and a great friend. A big brother and I can even say a father.”

Of course, the Blues connections don’t end there.

Tuchel and Marquinhos worked together for a few seasons in the French capital before the former also landed in London.

As suggested by the Mirror, Chelsea’s manager is still a huge admirer of the 27-year-old and wouldn’t hesitate to coach him once more.

Centre-half has been identified as an area that needs improvement in Tuchel’s squad.

Raphael Varane, Niklas Sule and Jules Kounde have all been presented as possible options.

Approaching Marquinhos might not be the worst option in the world.

Rio Ferdinand urged any team listening to snap up the Parisian leader as soon as possible.

However, Marquinhos is contracted to PSG until 2024, so expect the Ligue 1 side to demand a hefty fee for his services.
