Reports have claimed that Chelsea are now considering signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

According to Mail Online, the Blues are thinking about stepping up their approach for a new midfielder off the back of the 2-1 defeat to Fulham last night.

The Blues’ dire run of form continued as they were defeated in the West London derby last night. They now have only one win from their last nine games in all competitions.

Their efforts yesterday were certainly not helped by the red card to Joao Felix, who had been impressing before his reckless tackle saw him depart on the hour mark.

There were more issues in the injury department for Graham Potter to contend with too.

Denis Zakaria, who has been arguably the standout and surprise performer since the club game returned after the World Cup, was forced off in the second half with a leg injury.

He joins the likes of Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic as recent casualties, with there being a very strong XI now who are not fit to feature.

This may have played into what the Mail Online are claiming, that the Blues are considering making a move for Caicedo this month.

It has already been reported that the Ecuador international will not be available for a cheap price, and it may require at least £70m to get a deal over the line.

They are reportedly facing competition from fellow Premier League giants Liverpool, although it has been claimed that the Blues are more likely to get a deal done than Jurgen Klopp’s men.

With Jorginho expected to leave at the end of the season, the club will definitely need to invest in a replacement for that position if they are to not fall behind their rivals very quickly.
