Reports from Germany have claimed that Chelsea are in pole position to secure the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

According to BILD, the Blues have overtaken the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid as favourites for the potential blockbuster signing.

The 19-year-old is no doubt going to be the centre of one of the biggest transfer sagas in football history.

He is widely expected to take the next step up from Dortmund over the summer, similarly to how Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland have done in consecutive years.

Bellingham’s rise to the top has been well-documented over the last two years, with Pep Guardiola at the front of a long list of his admirers, describing him as ‘exceptional.’

Chelsea favourites for Bellingham

Todd Boehly is reportedly very interested in a deal to sign the youngster as part of his idea of forming a young yet competitive squad.

His ambition may be getting closer to becoming a reality, with BILD reporting that Chelsea are the favourites for the highly-anticipated deal, alongside Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola will no doubt be hoping that the speed Erling Haaland has adapted to his side will be a factor in the player’s decision making.

Chelsea meanwhile may see Bellingham as one of the only midfielders in the world capable of filling the void that could form at Stamford Bridge.

N’golo Kante is currently far away from signing a new deal at the club, with him and the club a way out on what they want in a new contract.

There is also no current indication that Jorginho will extend his current contract with the Blues. It is even apparently believed by some at the club that he is just waiting to run his deal down in order to eventually return to Italy.
