Report: Chelsea now interested in signing 'very slow' Premier League player, he may be up for sale this summer
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Manchester City defender Oleksandr Zinchenko as a potential target this summer.
The Blues are now being linked with yet another Man City player in this window. Thomas Tuchel’s side are reportedly pursuing a deal for attacker Raheem Sterling, as well as reportedly opening talks for his defensive teammate Nathan Ake.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have another member of the Man City squad in their sights.
It is understood they are considering making a move to sign 25-year-old Zinchenko from the Premier League champions.
The report explains the Ukraine international may end up for sale due to Man City’s interest in Marc Cucurella, albeit they’re in no rush to sell.
In addition, Everton and West Ham already have an interest in Zinchenko.
Chelsea interested in Zinchenko
Zinchenko’s certainly an interesting target linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge.
He’s a talented young player that usually slots in at left-back for Man City, but the versatile star is excellent as a midfielder when representing his country Ukraine on the international stage.
The left-footer’s not a nailed-on starter for Pep Guardiola’s side, making 28 appearances across all competitions last season. He’s definitely an important member of their squad, though.
Interestingly, club teammate Kyle Walker described him as “very slow” in an interview back in 2021. However, Zinchenko has proven in recent seasons at Man City that he’s tactically astute and extremely gifted on the ball to make up for a lack of pace.
