Chelsea will reportedly attempt to sign Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries next month when the January transfer window opens.

According to Sport Italia, the indications are that the Blues will make a concrete attempt to bring the 26-year-old player to Stamford Bridge.

The report explains that Serie A giants will demand at least €60million (£53million) for the full-back, which won’t be enough to put off Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly.

Chelsea will attempt to sign Dumfries

With Reece James suffering another injury, Chelsea need to act fast to add another quality right-back to their squad.

Dumfries has proven his quality during his time in Italy in Inter Milan colours, with his athleticism and power perfect to play as their right wing-back.

He’s incredible when he’s representing the Netherlands on the international stage, too.

His engine and stamina should make him a perfect fit for the Premier League, so you can understand why Chelsea are weighing up splashing the cash for him.

They’ve already got Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell vying for a starting position at left-back. It would be a remarkable bit of depth in the full-back areas if Dumfries joins to challenge James on the right.

Described as someone with “blistering pace” by Martin Keown, Dumfries is usually relentless up and down the wing for 90 minutes.

The defensive speedster has been linked regularly with Chelsea in recent times, but are they about to step up interest with an official offer?
