Report: Chelsea now trying to steal in and sign £68m star, even though he's already agreed contract with PSG
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, who’s actually already agreed a contract to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Tuttomercatoweb recently claimed PSG have agreed personal terms to sign the 27-year-old centre-back. The French champions are yet to agree an actual deal with Inter for the player, though.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea are potential rivals to PSG in the pursuit of Skriniar’s signature.
It is claimed the Blues have set sights on the Slovakia international, albeit they’ve not yet opened discussions about him. However, Thomas Tuchel’s side are in talks with Inter about a loan deal for striker Romelu Lukaku, so are already in an open chain of communication with them.
The report adds PSG are yet to reach the €80million (£68million) price tag that Inter have put on Skriniar.
Chelsea interested in Skriniar
A near-£70million asking price is extremely steep for Chelsea target Skriniar.
The impressive centre-half has been a key player in the Inter line-up for several years, so it makes sense they’ll value him very highly.
However, Chelsea need to weigh up whether they want to spend such a large sum on one player when from the outside it looks like a fair amount of work needs doing this summer.
Incidentally, Tuchel’s side are also linked with Inter centre-back Alessandro Bastoni this summer. But he could end up costing around £60million.
Chelsea have regularly ended up regretting spending fortunes in the transfer market, so a more measured approach could be called for moving forward.
