Reports suggest Chelsea are prepared to offer players in order to secure a deal with Leicester City for Wesley Fofana.

According to Mail Online, the Blues are looking at their current squad in order to bring down the club’s £85m valuation of the defender.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in the Frenchman as a defensive reinforcement, following multiple missed opportunities to sign centre-backs already this summer.

Most notably, the Blues were rumoured to be close to securing a deal for Jules Kounde from Sevilla, before Barcelona stepped in at the last minute and took a deal from under their noses.

With the season less than a week away from beginning, Thomas Tuchel has only been able to add Kalidou Koulibaly to his backline, not fully replacing the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Chelsea considering swap deal for Fofana

Their failures so far in the market has seemingly led them back to the Premier League, with Fofana the latest name they are set to target.

However, Mail Online have claimed the deal will be extremely tough to pull off, with the Blues hoping they can utilise members of their own squad to strike a deal.

The Foxes have previously been interested in a deal for Levi Colwill, with the young centre-back drawing attention from a wide variety of Premier League teams.

Injuries have disrupted the 19-year-old’s first pre-season tour with the main squad in the US, with him also missing the final set of friendlies in Italy against Udinese, where he would almost certainly have been in line for minutes.

The club would be more hopeful to get rid of some of the players stuck on high wages, with the likes of Ross Barkley, Michy Batshuayi and Kenedy still on the club’s books.

Despite their desire, it is unlikely Leicester would consider any deal with those players involved, instead looking for a replacement with similar prospects for the future.
