Report: Chelsea player has failed to convince Tuchel he’s good enough, but he could be difficult to sell

Callum Hudson-Odoi will most likely stay put at Chelsea this summer despite reportedly failing to convince Thomas Tuchel.

According to the Evening Standard, there is a general consensus around the club that the forward’s personal terms will probably put off any potential suitors.

It would be rather surprising if anybody put in a bid for Hudson-Odoi this summer, considering he hasn’t played since the 2nd of March.

His season ended prematurely because of injury, an all-too-familiar story for a player whose career still hasn’t really taken flight.

It looked like lift-off was about to happen when the 21-year-old hit some form between October and November.

He started six Premier League games and contributed three goals in three Champions League group stage matches.

The attacker also started 2022 pretty brightly, providing two assists on Boxing Day, before adding another against Tottenham Hotspur and scoring in the FA Cup.

But Hudson-Odoi’s body decided he’d enjoyed too much fun in the sun.

After that 3-2 victory over Luton nearly three months ago, the academy graduate has only been seen sitting in the stands at Stamford Bridge as a spectator.

Hudson-Odoi will likely stay at Chelsea

Based on his lack of game time towards the tail end of the term, it would be something of a risk for a club to sign him right now.

This minimal amount of action will certainly ward off many, if his personal terms haven’t already.

In this case, Hudson-Odoi must first regain fitness and then prove to Tuchel he is worthy to fight for his place in the team.

Having apparently ‘failed to convince’ the Chelsea manager, this task will not be easy.

Especially as pretty much all of the other members of the front line also have plenty to prove to the boss.

Some may not be given the chance as the transfer window looms, casting major doubt over who will actually be around when the new campaign rolls out.
