Chelsea do not have any plan to sell left-back Ben Chilwell amid reported interest from Premier League rivals Manchester City, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Athletic recently claimed that Man City plan to bring in a new left-back this summer, and they have a “genuine interest” in Chilwell.

The possible departure of Joao Cancelo, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich with an option to buy, likely plays a big part.

Pep Guardiola reportedly eyed Chilwell when he was at Leicester before the England international joined Chelsea in 2020.

However, Jacobs suggests that the reported interest is likely a non-starter.

“Manchester City have long-admired Ben Chilwell. Pep Guardiola tried to sign him from Leicester in 2020 prior to his move to Stamford Bridge,” the journalist told Si & Dan Talk Chelsea.

“Right now there is no contact between City and Chilwell. And the 26-year-old isn’t thinking about a move away.

“He’s only just got fit and is solely focused on building up minutes.

“He also has two years remaining on his deal, so isn’t quite in the same boat as other likely Chelsea outgoings.

“Chelsea don’t have a price in mind because they are not planning to sell.”

The Blues currently have over 30 players in their first-team ranks and are expected to trim the squad this summer.

Chilwell, whose current deal expires in 2025, however, is unlikely to be among those would want to sell.

There are several players who are close to entering the final year of their contracts at Chelsea, including Mason Mount, and these are more likely to be made available in the market.
