Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko and have ramped up their move to try get him.

According to 90min, Chelsea are stepping up interest in a teenager that Samuel Eto’o tipped to be Lionel Messi’s successor a couple of years ago.

It is understood that the Blues have made contact with the 18-year-old’s representatives in a bid to try strike a cut-price transfer, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

The report says the German forward wants to leave Dortmund in 2023 and there’s a wave of clubs circling for his signature.

Chelsea interested in Youssoufa Moukoko

90min explains Graham Potter’s side will need to beat off a lot of competition to sign Dortmund’s teenage sensation.

Apparently, Barcelona could be Chelsea’s biggest threat in the race to get the young striker.

Elsewhere, Premier League sides Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham are all interested buyers as well.

It’s obvious he’s extremely highly rated within the football community, with Erling Haaland describing him as “amazing” a couple of years ago when he was still a prospect.

Moukoko has now made a real first-team breakthrough at Dortmund, scoring six goals and making six assists in 22 appearances across all competitions this season.

The Germany international forced his way into the Dortmund XI pre-World Cup, so it’s going to be very exciting to see what he can achieve in the second half of the campaign.

For Chelsea, he looks like an incredibly exciting young target.

With Armando Broja suffering an injury in a friendly match over the weekend, do the Blues need to consider trying to get Moukoko through the Stamford Bridge doors in January?
