Report: Chelsea now determined to sign ‘phenomenal’ attacker after he was brilliant in World Cup final

Chelsea are reportedly fixed upon recruiting Marcus Thuram this month as they continue to scour the market for strikers.

According to Foot Mercato, Todd Boehly desperately wants to land the services of the Borussia Monchengladbach forward.

Thuram has cropped up in conversation a few times this season in regards to solving Chelsea’s attacking problems.

The 25-year-old might not be the most renowned number nine on the planet, but is certainly a useful weapon up front.

Chelsea midfielder certainly agrees with this statement, calling the France international phenomenal when the two were teammates.

He was certainly class on the world stage recently.

Gladbach’s star shone in the World Cup final for France, but failed to prize the trophy away from Argentina.

Marcus Thuram is targeted by Chelsea

Domestically, he has scored ten times in the Bundesliga this term, adding another two in the DFB-Pokal.

This is almost double the tally of Chelsea’s top scorer in 2022/23.

Raheem Sterling ranks first with six, followed by Kai Havertz on five.

Other members of Graham Potter’s senior offensive pack have a grand total of eight between them.

Therefore, it is no surprise that Boehly has been searching for fresh faces to help boost these measly numbers.

Chelsea’s owner has already landed the services of David Datro Fofana, the young Ivorian who netted ten goals for Molde before his move to Stamford Bridge.

Christopher Nkunku will head to Cobham in the summer, with the Frenchman currently the top marksman in the German first division.

In a close second is Thuram, he could be heading in the same direction as Nkunku if Boehly is serious about signing the World-Cup runner up.
