Chelsea have reportedly turned their attention to Olympique Lyon’s Moussa Dembele as Liverpool are in pole position for RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.

Chelsea are in the market for striker position, with Olivier Giroud’s contract entering its final months and uncertainties surrounding Michy Batshuayi’s future at Stamford Bridge.

Werner who has had an impressive 21 goals and seven assists from 25 appearances in Bundesliga this season has been under Chelsea’s radar. However, Liverpool are reportedly in a closer position to sign the 24-year-old.

Dembele, who started his career at Fulham, is under contract with Lyon until 2023 and Chelsea will have to prepare to break the bank in order to sign him.

A report from Skysports claimed the French side have put an £83m price tag on Dembele.

The club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas told the Mirror last month: “We already have a certain number of offers for our players for summer.

“We sell the players who want to leave to where they want to go.”

The Mirror also claimed Chelsea have tried to sign Dembele in January but were only prepared to bid £40m.
