Chelsea are moving to try sign Inter Milan keeper Andre Onana this summer, according to reports.

The Telegraph claims that Chelsea are trying to manoeuvre themselves into pole position for the 27-year-old goalkeeper.

It is explained that Andre Onana may cost around £40million to prise away from the San Siro. He would fit into Chelsea’s plans with their wage structure, though.

The report adds that the Blues are “particularly keen” on signing Onana, especially since they’re expected to sell their gloveman Edouard Mendy and free up some room in the squad.

We’ve recently heard that Mauricio Pochettino, who’s strongly linked with become the next Chelsea manager, has given a big thumbs up on a deal to bring Onana to Stamford Bridge next season.

Calciomeracto claimed last month that Pochettino has approved of Chelsea’s interest in Inter Milan goalkeeper Onana.

The ‘excellent’ shot-stopper has enjoyed a very good season so far, especially in the Champions League. His side are preparing to face bitter rivals AC Milan in the Champions League semi-finals later this month.

Onana has kept 16 clean sheets in 35 appearances during his debut campaign in Italy with Inter.

Previously, he kept 85 clean sheets during 214 games as Ajax’s number one.

Now, the Cameroon international is linked with a move to the Premier League for the first time in his career.

We feel Chelsea need a new number one keeper to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga as part of a rebuild this summer.

Kepa still doesn’t inspire too much confidence as the Blues goalkeeper despite a steady campaign.

If Chelsea are to get back to competing for trophies, we would prefer an individual in-between the sticks with more presence, character and consistency.
