Chelsea plan to continue investing in players in the summer transfer window with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen among their potential targets, according to The Guardian.
The Blues have spent over £500million in the last two transfer windows under the new ownership group.
They have not had much success in terms of offloading those deemed surplus to requirements, however, and as a result, Graham Potter has had to deal with a huge squad with more and more players returning from injuries.
Many would expect Chelsea to spend less and focus on trimming their squad at the end of the season, but the Guardian claims the club plans to be active again in the market.
The team’s poor goalscoring problems suggest the need to bring in new strikers, and the club reportedly plan to do exactly that.

The Guardian claims that in addition to the expected arrival of RB Leipzig versatile forward Christopher Nkunku, Chelsea have looked at Napoli’s Osimhen — arguably the most in-form goalscorer in Europe at the moment.
The 24-year-old has scored 19 goals from 21 appearances in Serie A this season and played a key role in Napoli’s leading Serie A by remarkable 15 points.
Osimhen has recently expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, which would only help Chelsea if they were to make a move for the Nigeria international.
Napoli would demand a lucrative deal, however, as anyone would expect.
Italian outlet Calciomercato recently mentioned that it would take an offer worth €120-130million to convince Napoli to let go of their most valuable asset.
But how would Chelsea get away with spending even more after their huge investment?
Transfer fee amortisation is key to Chelsea’s recent plans, and in addition to that, the potential sales of players, and in particular academy graduates, would help offset their expenditure.
Chelsea would bag complete profit if they were to sell likes of Conor Gallager, Mason Mount, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who have been linked with potential summer exits.
