Chelsea are not prioritising a move to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga right now, according to reports.

Gabri Veiga, who’s just 21, has just enjoyed an impressive season. He scored 11 La Liga goals while emerging as a key player for Spanish club Celta Vigo.

The Guardian claimed this week that Mauricio Pochettino has asked Chelsea to try sign Veiga this summer.

Now, there’s fresh claims that suggest the 21-year-old Spaniard isn’t a top transfer target.

Football.London has reported this morning that Chelsea have set their sight on Veiga and do admire him as a player.

However, they say that the Celta Vigo central midfielder is not a priority signing at this point.

Newcastle have been linked with a £35million move for Veiga, who’s still got three years remaining on his current deal.

So will we see this rising Spanish talent in the Premier League soon enough?

It certainly feels like the midfield area needs some serious attention this summer.

There’s so many Chelsea midfielders linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, including the likes of N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic.

In our view, the Blues should be focusing on a defensive midfielder with great experience in a No 6 role. However, we may need extra reinforcements in the centre of the park if there’s a mass midfield exodus.
