Report: Chelsea's 'fantastic' 27-year-old now also wanted on loan by French club
Top-flight French club Nice are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer on loan.
According to Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 side have set their sights on Chelsea’s second-choice keeper.
The report explains Nice are in the market during this window for a new shot-stopper, so would like to sign 27-year-old Spaniard Kepa on a loan basis.
He’s not the only Blues player linked with a potential exit from Stamford Bridge on loan, with teammate Romelu Lukaku wanted by Inter Milan on a temporary basis. In fact, it’s been reported Inter have now agreed a loan deal for the 29-year-old Chelsea striker.
Nice interested in Kepa
Kepa, who kept eight clean sheets in 15 Chelsea appearances last season, is the back-up goalkeeper at the Bridge to impressive teammate Edouard Mendy.
It’s no surprise to hear the gloveman linked with a potential summer move in pursuit of more football. Incidentally, Lazio reportedly view him as a “dream signing” in-between the sticks.
Described as “fantastic” recently by Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, Kepa has managed to get his career back on track after a huge drop off in form.
The next step for him is to get back into the role of a first-choice goalkeeper, something which seems pretty impossible at Chelsea while Mendy is around.
It’s going to be very difficult for him to shake off the tag of a flop after his £711.6million transfer to the Blues didn’t work out. However, he’s still a talented young keeper that can be a success elsewhere at other top sides.
