Report: Club unlikely to accept Chelsea's offer for goalscoring midfield talent

Chelsea have submitted their first offer for Inter Milan talent Cesare Casadei after an unsuccessful enquiry during talks for Romelu Lukaku’s loan deal, according to Sky Italia.

The report claims that despite their initial failed approach, Chelsea have recently initiated a few contacts with Inter before submitting a first offer worth €7-8million (£5.9-6.7m) for the 19-year-old.

Sky Sports adds that it seems unlikely that Inter would accept the offer since the Italian club would like to insert a buy-back clause in any deal for one of their best academy products.

Chelsea, unsurprisingly, refused to include such a clause in their offer, the report suggests.

The Blues are not the only club interested in Casadei, however. Italian side Torino are also keen on the goalscoring midfielder.

Casadei has yet to make a senior debut for Inter, but he racked up 17 goals and five assists across youth competitions last season.

He was also part of Italy U19s that reached the semifinals of the 2022 European Under-19 Championship before losing to eventual champions, England U19s, earlier this month.

Casadei mostly plays as a centre-midfielder while also capable of playing as a number 10.

Chelsea already have their own promising talents in this position, such as Harvey Vale and Charlie Webster, although when an opportunity arises, it is easy to see why Chelsea do not want to miss out on a player of Casadei’s talent.

The Inter talent is under contract at the club until 2024.
