The injury to Sevilla and France defender Jules Kounde is reportedly not a serious one amid transfer interest from Chelsea.
France manager Didier Deschamps confirmed on Monday the 23-year-old will undergo surgery this week on a long-term injury issue.
The Sevilla star played just 45 minutes for France yesterday in their 1-0 defeat to Croatia in the Nations League.
However, The Athletic describes Kounde’s imminent surgical procedure as a “small intervention” that won’t rule him out of pre-season this summer.
It is understood the routine surgery should mean he’s out of action for four weeks, so that leaves him available to return in July.
The report adds the injury issue should have no impact on the chances of him leaving Sevilla during this current transfer window.

Jules Kounde injury not serious
It’s a relief to hear Kounde’s injury problem isn’t a serious one, especially as Chelsea should want him integrated to their squad immediately in pre-season if he moves to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues tour the United States in mid-July ahead of the new 2022/23 campaign.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with signing the Sevilla centre-half, who can also fill in at right-back.
It’s been reported the centre-back is close to completing a £55million transfer to west London this summer to slot into a Blues defence that’s already lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
Described as “excellent” by ESPN pundit Stewart Robson, Kounde is an exciting talent that should bring some aggression and pace to the Chelsea backline.
The key for Thomas Tuchel’s side in the transfer market should be to sign players that can immediately improve the XI.
