Report: Graham Potter really wants to work with £75m player, Chelsea could launch summer bid for him now

Reports have claimed that Graham Potter really wants to work with Moises Caicedo at Chelsea.

According to GiveMeSport, the Blues could launch a bid to sign him in the summer after making him one of their targets in January.

The club had a bid rejected for the 21-year-old early in the window, as it became clear that it would take an offer of at least £75m for Brighton to even consider letting him go midway through the season.

Caicedo was also the subject of interest from league leaders Arsenal, however they instead opted to save money with the signing of former Blue Jorginho.

Chelsea also looked elsewhere in January, eventually securing a club-record move for Enzo Fernandez.

However, GiveMeSport have claimed that Potter’s desire to rekindle the working relationship may see the Blues return for Caicedo at the end of the season.

Potter wants to work with Caicedo

The Ecuador international made it clear on social media that he wanted to leave Brighton last month, especially following interest from two of the Premier League’s greatest clubs.

However, he may fall foul of how the landscape is set to change in terms of midfielders when the transfer window opens again.

England pair Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice are likely to be on the move when this season comes to a close, and Chelsea are a side who have frequently been linked with a move for both of them.

However, they both seem at this stage far closer to moves to rival English sides.

This could leave the door open for a move for Caicedo, with the Blues hoping he can continue his growth at the Amex despite his issues with his current club.

It is worth remembering that it has only been 12 months at the top for the 21-year-old, and the amount of money required to sign him makes the deal a risk.
