Reports have claimed that Chelsea believe they will be able to secure a deal to sign Enzo Fernandez before the end of January.
According to The Telegraph, they are prepared to meet the £105m requirement Benfica have always wanted, although want to pay the deal in instalments.
Interest in the Argentina international has been well-documented pretty much since the World Cup came to an end last month.

The 21-year-old has used the tournament to put himself on the map as a serious option for the midfield for one of the elite sides in Europe.
He picked up the young player of the tournament accolade after winning the competition with the Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina.
Chelsea confident they can sign Fernandez
Reports have suggested that he has now been keen to make the step up to one of the biggest teams in Europe, and he has been personally pushing to leave his club in line with Chelsea’s month long interest.
It seemed things had gone quiet until the summer, however this weekend saw Chelsea reignite their interest in securing a deal.
According to The Telegraph, they are confident they can reach an agreement, despite resistance from Benfica and club owner Rui Costa.

The Portuguese side have been pretty open in their requests to let him go. They want his release clause to be met, which is a method Chelsea can’t really go down with how FFP is set to impact them.
Moises Caicedo was another midfielder the club were looking at with the potential of signing this month, as they looked to put the final touches on a sensational January transfer window.
However, a combination of Brighton’s unwillingness to sell him and Arsenal’s increased interest makes it likely that it is all or nothing in Fernandez to strengthen the midfield this month.
