Inter Milan consider Chelsea centra-back Kalidou Koulibaly as a potential replacement for Milan Skriniar who could leave the club to join Paris Saint-Germain, according to La Repubblica.

According to the Italian outlet, Inter are still confident that they will be able to convince Skriniar to extend his contract, which will expire at the end of the season.

The Slovakia international is clearly in a stronger negotiating position, however, and PSG’s interest in the defender makes it even difficult for Inter.

As an anticipation, Inter have reportedly drawn up a list of potential replacements, including Chelsea’s Koulibaly.

Koulibaly signed a four-year deal to join Chelsea for a reported fee of £33m last summer. It is a quite long contract for a 31-year-old which indicates the Blues were very confident in the defender’s abilities.

However, the Senegal international has not had the best start to his Premier League career. Koulibaly seems to struggle to adapt to the new league.

Inter could be ready to offer the former Napoli man a way back to the Serie A and are reportedly ready to enter negotiations.

Their head coach Simone Inzaghi is said to be a big fan of Koulibaly.

It is unlikely that Chelsea would allow Koulibaly to leave in January considering Graham Potter’s limited options for the left centre-back role, but next summer could be a different story.

The Blues’ reported interest in RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol could play a part, while Levi Colwill’s expected return from loan at Brighton will also provide Potter another left centre-back option.
