AS Roma have had contact with thea agent of Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech over a potential January move, according to Gianluca di Marzio.

The 29-year-old was very lively in the 0-0 draw between Chelsea and Liverpool on Saturday and rather unlucky not to have an assist or two in the game.

This positive performance, however, does not change the fact that he is part of the Chelsea attack that have scored the fewest goals among teams in the top half of the Premier League table.

In fairness, Ziyech has only had four league starts this season. Still, one assist from 10 appearances in the competition is far below what is expected from a player of his calibre.

The Blues have clearly made an effort to solve their attacking issues by bringing in several fresh faces as reinforcement.

But sooner or later, the club will have to make space for these new players by offloading some already on their books.

Ziyech could be one of them. He may not be the weak link in the team, but he is arguably one of the team’s most sellable assets.

Newcastle United seem to think so as well, according to an earlier report from The Telegraph.

The Toons are not the only club interested in the Morocco international, however.

Reputable Italian journalist Di Marzio claims that Roma have already made their move for a possible January deal for the winger.

The Serie A club are said to be preparing for the probable departure of Nicolo Zaniolo, who have generated interset from Tottenham Hotspur.

For now, Ziyech’s reported €6.5million-a-year could prove a stumbling block to any deal with Roma, similar to AC Milan’s case last summer.
