Antonio Rudiger’s talks with Chelsea over a new contract are still ongoing.
According to The Athletic, the Blues are still in positive discussions with the defender about him extending his stay at Stamford Bridge. As it stands, the 28-year-old would leave at the end of the season when his current Chelsea deal expires.
The report explains that Rudiger wants a package worth around £225,000-a-week, which is more than he initially requested.
This comes after last night’s claim from The Daily Mail that he rejected a new contract worth £200,000-a-week.
It looks like Chelsea are trying to resolve the German defender’s future to keep him beyond the summer, but they are running out of time.

Do the right thing Chelsea
Of course, the club should never be held to ransom when it comes to transfers, contracts etc. However, it seems an absolute no-brainer to match Rudiger’s £225,000-a-week demand.
His performances during 12 months under manager Thomas Tuchel proves he’s one of the most important players in the squad.
If he left, it would cost a fortune to try bring in a replacement at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel, who called Rudiger “outstanding” last month, relies on him almost every game.
He’s a colossus as the left-sided centre-back in a back three. Also, it’s been great to see him adapt comfortably since a switching back four.
His aggression, leadership and pace isn’t something Chelsea can really lose.
