Arsenal are about to make their first signing of the summer transfer window by landing Chelsea’s Kai Havertz in a £65million deal.

That is according to well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.

There’s been a lot of transfer speculation in the past week regarding a potential transfer across London for Kai Havertz.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg claimed on Twitter a few days ago that Arsenal were pretty confident they would be able to bring Havertz to the Emirates Stadium.

It seems like that confidence was well placed, too.

Romano has explained on Twitter that Arsenal have agreed a deal with Chelsea for Havertz.

The Gunners are going to be paying a £60million guaranteed fee, which includes £5million in add-ons.

It is understood that the transfer will be concluded very shortly and finalised this week.

“Kai Havertz, first Arsenal signing as deal will be completed in the next hours — here we go,” Romano said.

“◉ £60m guaranteed fee;

“◉ £5m add-ons;

“◉ Long term deal agreed;

“◉ Medical tests to be scheduled.

“Havertz will sign the contract this week, documents are being prepared.”

Described as “incredibly talented” by Graham Potter, Havertz appears to be on the verge of leaving Chelsea.

The German forward cemented his spot in the club’s history by scoring the winning goal in a Champions League final two years ago, but that does seem like a long time ago now.

He can feel a tad unfortunate that he’s had to play out of position for large spells of his career, with the team often needing him to play as the central striker. We much prefer him in a No 10 position.

However, there shouldn’t be too many complaints that Chelsea look set to raise £65million in cash for him.
