Arsenal are now ‘very confident’ of signing Chelsea star Kai Havertz this summer.

That is according to Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Telegraph recently reported that Chelsea have turned down Arsenal’s opening bid for £70million-rated Havertz. However, they would sell the 24-year-old to their rivals for the right fee.

Now, the suggestion is that Mikel Arteta’s side believe Kai Havertz may be a Gunners player next season.

Florian Plettenberg has took to Twitter to explain that Arsenal now really believe Havertz will join them. Incidentally, they feel West Ham captain Declan Rice will be in their midfield soon as well.

“Been told Arsenal is very confident to sign both: Rice & Havertz! Despite of the fact that Chelsea has rejected the first offer. Arteta is pushing for Havertz! Arsenal are in advanced stages with both players,” Plettenberg said.

The Daily Mail claimed last night that Bayern Munich have expressed a late interest in Havertz.

Plettenberg noted in his tweet that German heavyweights Bayern Munich have a transfer meeting scheduled next week, but they’re yet to make any kind of offer for Havertz.

A lot of players in recent history have played for both Arsenal and Chelsea, with Jorginho the most recent example of a player switching between the London club.

So will Havertz join that list and former teammate Jorginho at Arsenal next season?

Chelsea fans really want to love and support Havertz, who was the match-winner in a Champions League final a couple of years ago.

Unfortunately, he’s not been able to kick on for the Blues and find the kind of consistency they really need from him.

He scored nine goals in 47 games across all competitions last season as Chelsea’s main offensive threat, which simply isn’t good enough in this line-up.

You could argue it shouldn’t be on him to lead the line and we would much prefer him playing in a deeper No 10 role, but it does feel like the patience of Chelsea supporters has run out with him.

Arsenal fans may be sceptical if they splash the cash on Havertz. Our guess is Arteta may be able to improve and help him like he did with Martin Odegaard.
