Arsenal are in talks about a £60million deal to sign Chelsea’s Kai Havertz.

That is according to the Daily Mail.

The Kai Havertz transfer saga has picked up real speed in the past 24 hours, with Arsenal now emerging as a serious candidate to sign him this summer.

We heard from The Guardian yesterday that Havertz has informed Chelsea he wants to leave Stamford Bridge after Arsenal emerged as a potential buyer.

Fresh claims suggest there’s still some negotiating to do between all parties, though.

The Daily Mail says that Arsenal are in discussions with Chelsea about a £60million move for Havertz.

It is explained that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners side hope they can sign the Blues attacker for around £60million. They’re prepared to pay wages above £200,000-a-week, too.

However, the report does add that Chelsea currently value the player at £70million and are playing hardball.

Arsenal are currently £10million short of Havertz’s asking price, but there’s rumours in the media that the Blues may sell him in this window. For example, 90min recently claimed that incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is now willing to lose Havertz from the squad.

Described as “incredibly talented” by Graham Potter, Havertz is one of the most frustrating players at Chelsea.

The left-footed attacker is soaked with individual ability when it comes to his close control and vision, but he doesn’t put up the kind of numbers he should as a forward.

It cost the Blues £71million to sign Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen three years ago. We should consider it a great deal if we can sell him on for a similar price, albeit another sale to rivals Arsenal would upset some fans.
