Report: PSG reignite interest in Tiemoue Bakayoko amid AC Milan's interest
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in contact with representatives of Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko amid interest from AC Milan.
It has been a complicated summer for the 26-year-old.
After Monaco refused to trigger the option to buy in his loan contract at the end of last season, Bakayoko is now in limbo.
He is clearly not in Frank Lampard’s plan for the 2020/21 season after being left without a squad number, but so far, he does not have a clear plan either.
A return to Ligue 1 could be on the cards though, as PSG are reportedly interested.
According to a report from Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 champions have reignited communication with the midfielder’s representatives.
Considering their midfield injury issues, particularly Marco Verratti who has had five different injury problems since the start of last season (Transfermarkt), and Ander Herrera who missed over 20 games last season alone (Transfermarkt), it makes sense that they would want to bring in another centre-midfielder.
But they are not the only teams who are in the race, though, with AC Milan have reportedly proposed a loan with an option to buy for €30million to Chelsea.
Bakayoko himself recently said he would want to return t0 Milan, but has previously spoken up about his desire to play in the France capital as well.
“Yes, for sure, one day I would like to play in Paris,” he told L’equipe last year.
I cannot lie about it. It’s big for me and my loved ones. We are real Parisians.”
If PSG table a better offer, which we know they are capable of, it will be a safer option compared to another loan from Chelsea’s perspective since Bakayoko has just two years left in his contract.
