Reports suggest Thomas Tuchel has outlined the signings he wants to add after bringing in Raheem Sterling to bolster his squad.

According to The Independent, the German is keen to add to all areas of his side, prioritising as many as three defenders before the season starts.

The club are in a defensive emergency after seeing Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger leave the club for free earlier this summer.

With Cesar Azpilicueta’s future in the air, the club could be set to enter the new season with only 37-year-old Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr potentially available from last season’s options.

While supporters will be hoping Levi Colwill is offered an opportunity to break into the setup next season, it appears Tuchel is seeking immediate reinforcements for the role.

Tuchel wants five more signings

The club’s ambition to back the manager has been shown by reports of their transfer targets, with them getting close to deals to sign Kalidou Koulibaly and Nathan Ake.

It has been speculated that Chelsea have agreed personal terms with the Senegal international, and are close to agreeing a fee with Napoli over a deal.

The Independent have claimed Tuchel is not only looking at defenders to add to his squad, with the goal also being to add a midfielder, as well as a striker to his ranks.

Central-midfielder Matheus Nunes has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with the Blues reportedly leading Europe’s elite clubs in the race for his signature,

The need for reinforcements in this role may be more evident in a couple of years, with the futures of Jorginho and N’golo Kante remaining unclear.

A striker should also be seen as a priority for the Blues this summer, with Romelu Lukaku’s departure leaving only Armando Broja as a recognised striking option.

Despite his links to Barcelona, the Blues would be wise to push for a move for Robert Lewandowski, with the Poland international looking to leave German champions Bayern Munich.
