Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has reportedly been convinced the club should look to offload Romelu Lukaku this summer.
According to Matt Law at The Telegraph, the Blues are engaging in conversations with Inter Milan, after the £97.5m transfer between the clubs last season.
Indeed, it was said that Boehly himself has been in conversation with Lukaku’s representatives today and the outcome of the talks were ‘positive’.
A return to the Nerazzurri has been on the Belgian’s mind for months now, after an explosive interview with Sky in Italy where he claimed he would like to return to the Serie A club while he was still in his prime. Being 29, that would seem to mean soon.

The outburst came just days after he had returned from injury, inspiring Chelsea to a comeback victory against Aston Villa.
This performance looked set to be the catalyst for a return to form, however it resulted in backlash from supporters, and Lukaku finishing the league season on just eight goals.
Now, Law suggests new owner Boehly has been made aware of the risks to his new squad if they try and make a go of things with the club’s record signing, pulling in favour of completing a deal this summer.
Inter’s interest in the former Serie A MVP has been well documented this summer, however the majority of reports suggest their financial situation means they will have to look to negotiate a loan deal.

Boehly has the right idea about maintaining squad harmony in his first season at the top in West London.
In a season where numerous off-the-field situations had an effect on the Blues on the pitch, having the star striker outline his desire to play elsewhere helped nobody, and put his relationship with the fans past the point of properly saving.
If Lukaku is out though, Chelsea need to look at bringing a goalscorer in, with them seemingly unable to rely on their current crop for regular output.
With that being said, looking at Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus will provide examples of a pair of players with experience of scoring big goals in this league, presenting the perfect traits for an incoming Blue.
