Graham Potter has reportedly been reassured that a deal for Christopher Nkunku to join Chelsea will be completed.
According to TEAMtalk, Potter has been told by Todd Boehly that the transfer of the RB Leipzig forward is almost finalised.
Boehly is clearly keen to build-upon the spending spree he went on over the summer by adding further stars to Stamford Bridge.
Nkunku has remained a high-priority for the American owner ever since he replaced Roman Abramovich at the helm.
It appears the Chelsea chief will soon secure his latest piece of footballing gold in the form of the France international.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that a verbal agreement is already in place between Chelsea and Leipzig.
All that apparently needs to be straightened out is when will the attacker move to South West London.
Potter needs Nkunku now
Potter will understandably want Nkunku to arrive in January, as he looks to solve his side’s scoring problems.
This season alone, the 25-year-old has scored 17 times and provided four assists.
Which is exactly why Leipzig do not want to lose their main marksmen mid-way through the campaign.
Marco Rose is still pushing for Champions League qualification, a feat made possible due to his striker’s strength in front of goal.
But Rose’s employers might not be able to resist Chelsea’s approaches if they commit to paying Nkunku’s £53m release clause.
Pay the price, and Boehly’s rebuild may have another brick in the foundation straight after the World Cup.
