Chelsea could reportedly make a move for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele this summer when he’s out of contract.

According to Football.London, the Blues are interested in a swoop for the 24-year-old attacker at the end of the season.

However, the report explains that the reigning European champions will need to sell potentially two of their current forwards to make room.

In addition, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of him after previously coaching him at Borussia Dortmund.

Dembele, who’s a World Cup winner with France, is due to leave Barcelona at the end of the 2021/22 campaign when his deal runs out.

There was plenty of transfer speculation during last month’s window linking the Frenchman to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea even reportedly at the front of the queue for his signature on deadline day.

However, he’s remained with the Spanish giants for the next few months.

Dembele too risky for Chelsea

Obviously, Chelsea need to look at getting rid of attackers before bringing any more through the door.

The next few months the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz should be under the spotlight to show they can have long-term futures at Stamford Bridge.

For Dembele, his future appears to lie elsewhere with his contract running out.

The quick winger has flattered to deceive with 31 goals and 23 assists in 129 Barcelona appearances since joining them in 2017.

It would be a colossal risk for any buyer given Dembele’s inconsistent form, along with his bad luck with injuries.
