Report: Tuchel convinced he can get 25-year-old attacker firing at Chelsea if Boehly signs him
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel reportedly thinks he can help Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele if he moves to Stamford Bridge this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea boss Tuchel reckons he can get the best from the 25-year-old next season.
The report adds new Blues owner Todd Boehly wants some “bold signings” this summer amid interest in Barcelona’s £135.5million signing.
However, it is understood not the entire Chelsea hierarchy is yet convinced he’s the right marquee signing to make.
Dembele, who’s out of contract at Camp Nou at the end of this month, is due to become a free agent.
The Frenchman’s been repeatedly linked to Chelsea already this summer, with one recent report claiming the Blues are in pole position to sign him on a free transfer. Another report says a four-year deal is on the table, too.
Tuchel can help Dembele
Dembele and Tuchel previously worked alongside together successfully at Borussia Dortmund, so it’s no great surprise to hear the Chelsea coach wants to form a reunion in London.
There’s been an issue during 18 months of Tuchel’s reign as Blues manager when it comes to his attack.
His team is crying out for a tad more consistency and creativity in his frontline, which is something Dembele’s got the potential to offer.
The Barcelona star did suffer injuries in the most recent season, something that’s worth looking at closely, but still ended up with 13 assists in only 21 La Liga appearances.
Everyone is fully aware of how many forwards in recent years have flopped after completing a transfer to Chelsea, though. Let’s hope the right is just around the corner because it’s needed to close the gap to the top of the Premier League moving forward.
