Premier League duo Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa have both reportedly made contact about signing Atletico Madrid’s Matheus Cunha, who’s been linked with Chelsea earlier this week.

The Evening Standard reported on Thursday that Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Cunha.

There’s been no speculation regarding the strength of the Blues interest in signing the 23-year-old centre-forward, who has struggled for regular starts with Atletico Madrid this season.

Manchester United were reportedly (talkSPORT) close to signing Cunha back in the summer for £42million, but he did remain at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Chelsea linked with Matheus Cunha

Fresh speculation suggests Chelsea may need to act sharply if they want to sign Atletico Madrid’s attacker.

According to Goal, Wolves and Villa have their sights set on a potential bid for Cunha in next month’s January transfer window.

The report explains both suitors have already made contact with the Brazilian’s representatives to discuss interest.

In our view, no Premier League club should risk going anywhere near the £40million mark for Cunha.

He’s not scored in any of his 17 Atletico games so far this campaign across all competitions, something that must be grinding on the Brazilian frontman.

His experience on the big stage for both Atletico and Brazil should make him appeal to the likes of Wolves and Villa. Chelsea need to make sure they get their next few signings back on the money without too much risk, though.
