Manchester United and Chelsea may have reached a compromise regarding the transfer of Mason Mount.

That is according to The Mirror.

Mason Mount, who’s entering the final year of his Chelsea deal, has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.

In particular, the 24-year-old’s been mentioned as a target for United to bring to Old Trafford.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed on Twitter that United are prepared to make a new bid for Mount. This comes at a time when the attacking midfielder has no desire to extend his contract with the Blues.

Now, fresh claims this afternoon suggest that this transfer saga may soon be over.

The Mirror has explained that Chelsea and United have found a middle ground for Mount, so the player is now edging close to completing a £60million move to Old Trafford.

It is understood that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been holding out for a £70million fee, while United had previously been unsuccessful with a £50million bid.

The report says the Premier League rivals have finally reached a compromise, though.

United boss Erik ten Hag is now keen to have the deal wrapped up before his side’s pre-season tour next month.

It sounds like Mount may no longer be a Chelsea player by mid-July.

Many people have viewed Mount as the poster boy for this Chelsea team in the last few years, so it’s going to be extremely odd watching him wear red for a rival club.

The ‘unbelievable’ playmaker has all the ability in the world and has proven himself before on the biggest stage, so don’t let last season’s dip fool you.

Our overriding feeling is one of disappointment that Mount looks to be heading out of Stamford Bridge. However, we would much rather him go now than keep him against this will for a further year.

It seems like £60million could be a deal that makes sense for all parties.
