Chelsea sources reportedly claim that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was a Blues signing last summer that was driven by the club rather than by Thomas Tuchel.
According to ESPN, club sources informed them shortly after Tuchel’s sacking in September that Aubameyang was not his signing.
The pair were reunited at Stamford Bridge this season after previously working together at Borussia Dortmund, but the decision to bring the striker to London was reportedly led by the club itself.
Unfortunately, the 33-year-old forward is having a tough debut season in Chelsea colours.
The experienced attacker has struggled for minutes under Tuchel’s successor, Graham Potter. Also, he was recently omitted from the Blues 25-man squad for the Champions League during the second half of the season.

Aubameyang, who only got to play one Chelsea game under Tuchel’s management, has had a tough return to English football after a short stay in Spain with Barcelona.
The centre-forward only has three goals in 17 Blues appearances across all competitions.
It’s interesting to hear the club were behind Aubameyang’s recruitment, because most of their business has been focused on signing some of the best young players in Europe.
The No.9 position is one area that continues to be a mystery and frustrate supporters.

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed to CaughtOffside that Aubameyang will leave Chelsea and the club will search to sign a new striker.
He’s completely slipped down the pecking order under Potter, with 20-year-old striker David Datro Fofana getting minutes in last week’s goalless draw with Fulham. In contrast, Aubameyang wasn’t even named in the match day squad.
Let’s hope the club don’t fall into many more traps in the transfer market.
