On the surface, AS Roma’s interest in Alejandro Garnacho is a positive development for Chelsea supporters.
Many Chelsea fans want Garnacho out of the club after a very underwhelming debut season at Stamford Bridge.
He finished the Premier League campaign with just one goal to his name.
Garnacho could now sign for Roma to end his Chelsea hell. But what the Serie A club are proposing will not please the Blues, especially after what happened with Nicolas Jackson.
Sorry, but there are WORSE players than Alejandro Garnacho at Chelsea who aren’t being pushed out of the club
According to TEAMtalk, Roma’s preference is to sign Garnacho on loan with an obligation to buy; however, they want the obligation to be dependent on certain conditions being met.
That would make Garnacho’s deal very similar to Jackson’s in the last summer transfer window. Jackson joined Bayern Munich on loan with an obligation to buy that also needed certain conditions to be met.
That never happened, though, resulting in the striker returning to Chelsea. The same thing could happen with Garnacho if Chelsea sanction a similar deal.
It is not what they want, nor is it something that the club need to do. While Garnacho did have a season to forget, he is still a young winger with a lot of talent. There will be a market for him, although Chelsea may have to drop their valuation a bit to attract suitors.
Jackson’s situation was a little bit different, as it was very late in the transfer window. We are still only in July, giving Chelsea enough time to do the above.
Nicolas Jackson or Liam Delap, which one are you keeping? Tell us who and why!
Chelsea will not want a situation where Garnacho spends one season on loan somewhere before returning to the club the following year.
Clearly, Chelsea want to offload him permanently, so they need to try to avoid another Jackson situation.
From Garnacho’s perspective, he also appears to want a transfer, so this really should not be too difficult to do.
