There’s still a chance that Chelsea could return with a fresh move today for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

That is according to a report from The Guardian.

They claim that sources have refused to rule out Chelsea coming back with a new attempt to sign Moises Caicedo.

It is understood that the Blues put a £100million offer on the table this week for the Brighton midfielder, but Liverpool swooped in last night to wreck the potential transfer.

The report says that Liverpool have agreed a £110million deal with Brighton for the 21-year-old star and want to wrap up the signing on Friday before any further transfer twists.

So, will there be one final late change in this dramatic transfer story?

We’ve been following speculation all summer regarding Chelsea’s interest in Caicedo, so to lose out on him in the final stages would be crushing.

It would be a massive move if Mauricio Pochettino’s side now trumped Liverpool’s £110million offer. In fact, it would be more than the £106.8million (Sky Sports) the Blues paid for Enzo Fernandez in January, which is a British-record sum for now.

Described by Jamie Redknapp as “magnificent” on Sky Sports (13/11/22 at 1:45 pm), Caicdeo appears to be on the verge of becoming the Premier League’s most expensive signing ever.

It would be remarkable to see Chelsea counter Liverpool today, but the most optimistic Blues supporter may now keep hope because of the report above.

Elsewhere, talkSPORT has claimed that Chelsea could turn their attention to Southampton’s Romeo Lavia because of Liverpool’s agreed deal for Caicedo.

You can be sure there’s now an extra spice added into Sunday’s Premier League opener between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
