Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha only wants to play for Chelsea, it seems.

Last week, Chelsea struck a pre-agreement with their sister club Strasbourg to sign Emegha in 2026.

It is not yet known whether the 22-year-old will join Chelsea in the summer or the winter, but he will be moving to Stamford Bridge at some point.

Despite interest from other clubs in the last transfer window, Emegha only had eyes for Chelsea, something that Strasbourg president Marc Keller has confirmed.

Strasbourg president Marc Keller confirms Emanuel Emegha received 10 offers in the summer

Emegha’s decision to announce his transfer to Chelsea has caused a lot of backlash, with Strasbourg fans not happy about it.

However, Keller has defended the Dutchman, stating that he could have already left the club after receiving 10 offers in the summer, all of which he rejected.

In a press conference, which has been relayed by RMC Sport, Keller said: “The player made efforts. He wanted to stay. For a player who turned down ten offers, it’s important that people know he is totally committed.

“I don’t want him to be whistled — he doesn’t deserve it. If he has a bad game, that’s football, but not on this subject.”

Following Liam Delap’s injury, the possibility of Emegha joining Chelsea at the end of the last transfer window was raised.

The Chelsea Chronicle understands that Chelsea viewed Emegha as a potential replacement for Delap but decided to leave him at Strasbourg for the time being for the sake of his development.

Keeping Nicolas Jackson at the club was another option, but the Senegal international was desperate to join Bayern Munich, who beat Chelsea 3-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior has also jumped to Emegha’s defence and is refusing to remove him as club captain.

When Rosenior spoke about Emegha after the end of Strasbourg’s last league game, he said: “Ema will remain captain as long as he is here.”

It is turning out to be an ugly end to Emegha’s career at Strasbourg, but there is a long way to go before this season concludes.

If he continues to score goals and helps Strasbourg reach their objectives for the campaign, the likelihood is that he will get a good send-off.
