One Chelsea star now looks set to miss out on a move to another big European outfit this month.

At present, quite a few Chelsea players are being linked to top European teams, including Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka.

Felix and Nkunku are said to be attracting interest from AC Milan and Bayern Munich respectively.

Regarding Chukwuemeka, he was on Borussia Dortmund’s radar. Earlier this month, it was reported that Dortmund were keen on Chukwuemeka, but that no longer seems to be the case.

Borussia Dortmund cool Carney Chukwuemeka interest after sacking Nuri Sahin

Nuri Sahin was dismissed by Dortmund this week after a run of four straight defeats, and his exit now looks like it will have ramifications for Chukwuemeka.

According to journalist Patrick Berger, the 21-year-old was the midfielder whom Sahin wanted and a move is now “off the table” for the time being following his departure.

A loan seemed the most likely outcome due to the price tag Chelsea slapped on the player.

At one point, it was being reported that Chelsea were ready to ask for £45m for Chukwuemeka.

What Todd Boehly said when Carney Chukwuemeka first signed for Chelsea

Todd Boehly was acting sporting director at the time of Chukwuemeka’s arrival at Chelsea, and it is fair to say that he was quite excited about the former Aston Villa player joining the club.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website about Chukwuemeka, Boehly said: “Carney is one of the most exciting young players in Europe so we are really looking forward to seeing him in action at Stamford Bridge. We are delighted to be able to bring him to Chelsea and add such a talented young individual to our squad for the new season and beyond.”

Unfortunately for the Chelsea co-owner and Blues supporters, though, Chukwuemeka has not been able to get them off their seats on too many occasions.

Injuries have limited his impact at Stamford Bridge, while he is currently being overlooked by Enzo Maresca.

In total, the England youth international has made just five appearances this season, with none coming in the Premier League.

It is why a loan move to Dortmund this month would have been great for him, but that no longer appears to be an option.
