AC Milan are still in discussions about a deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer, according to reports.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that AC Milan are in talks with Chelsea about the 27-year-old’s possible transfer.

It is understood that Ruben Loftus-Cheek is currently speaking with the Italian giants.

Romano adds that he’s Milan’s priority target for the midfield area.

The Evening Standard claimed earlier this month that Chelsea’s owners want Loftus-Cheek sold in the upcoming summer transfer window.

This oversized Blues squad desperately needs cutting for incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino, so will the midfielder be gone by the time he arrives?

Despite plenty of rumours about him leaving, Loftus-Cheek has had game time in the past few Premier League games towards the back end of the 2022/23 season.

The amount of injuries in the centre of the park has left caretaker boss Frank Lampard with limited options to choose from, albeit we think Carney Chukwuemeka is desperately unlucky not to play more.

Loftus-Cheek still shows glimpses every now and then of why he was so highly rated in the early stages of his career.

Unfortunately, the £150,000-a-week central midfielder has never really lived up to the hype.

In our view, Loftus-Cheek’s potential switch to the San Siro is a win for all parties.

We can’t see the versatile midfielder becoming a mainstay at Stamford Bridge in the Chelsea line-up, which is why a fresh challenge elsewhere could be the making of him.

Don’t be surprised to see him go and shine in Serie A with his physical attributes.
