Chelsea are reportedly on the brink of completing a deal to sign FC Basel star Renato Veiga.
The Blues should be praised for how quickly they’ve gone about making signings in this summer transfer window.
They’ve already recruited Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman.
Now, various outlets report that Renato Veiga will be the latest to arrive at Stamford Bridge.
According to The Athletic last week, Chelsea have agreed a deal worth €14m (£12m) to sign Veiga.
The 20-year-old is an interesting imminent signing because he’s extremely versatile and can be used as a left-sided centre-back, left-back or a No 6 midfielder.

Where Chelsea plan to play Renato Veiga
The Evening Standard claims that Veiga is due in London for his medical as Chelsea close in on his signing from Basel.
It is understood that Chelsea’s plan is to use the youngster as an inverted full-back.
The Portuguese talent has proven he can play various roles in defence or midfield, but he’s set to compete for the left-back position.
£60m Blues star should be on alert
If Veiga’s imminent transfer could spell trouble for any current Chelsea player, perhaps it’s Marc Cucurella.
Cucurella, 25, finished last season in fantastic form for the Blues. A large reason for that is he suited the position as an inverted left-back.
He’s continued the form into this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, where he’s played a key role for a Spain team that are in the semi-finals against France.
Cucurella, who cost Chelsea £60m (Sky Sports), should be a bit anxious that his club is close to signing an individual that can play his position.
On the flip side, the way the Spanish defender has played in the last few months, he should relish any competition at Stamford Bridge next season.
