Chelsea sold Christopher Nkunku to AC Milan at the end of August in a £36m deal.
Nkunku was looking for more game time ahead of next year’s World Cup, with the forward failing to nail down a starting spot at Chelsea.
Last season, he made just nine starts in the Premier League, giving him little choice but to move to Milan.

However, things are not exactly going to plan for Nkunku at the San Siro.

AC Milan could offload Christopher Nkunku
Last month, it was claimed that Milan had no regrets about signing Nkunku despite his lack of impact under Massimiliano Allegri.
However, journalist Daniele Longo has claimed on X that the 28-year-old is not untouchable and that his situation will be evaluated in January.
It means that Milan could offload Nkunku when the transfer market opens despite only buying him in the summer.
While Milan could be busy in the winter transfer window, Nkunku’s former club Chelsea are unlikely to be active.
The position that Chelsea MUST strengthen in 2026 is _ _ _ _ _ _
It is thought that Chelsea will wait until next summer before doing any serious kind of business in the market.

Christopher Nkunku’s stats since leaving Chelsea
Nkunku may have been better off staying at Chelsea. With Liam Delap picking up a couple of bad injuries this term, the Frenchman probably would have got game time at Stamford Bridge.
At Milan, Nkunku has only made five starts in Serie A and has failed to score in the competition. In total, he has made 14 appearances across all competitions.
| Christopher Nkunku’s 2025/26 stats | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Serie A | 11 | 0 | 2 |
| Coppa Italia | 2 | 1 | 0 |
| Supercoppa Italiana | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| Total | 14 | 1 | 2 |
Simply put, Nkunku’s move to Milan has not worked out and he may not get time to change that.
It is a shame, as the France international is a quality forward. He showed that at RB Leipzig after scoring so many goals for the German club.
However, his transfer to Chelsea and injuries have really harmed his career. How he revives it from here remains to be seen.
